In all classes, everything for the class is furnished.  Let me know in advance if you’d prefer to mount your own trophy and I’ll furnish everything else necessary for the mount.

MINI SPECIES-SPECIFIC CLASSES:

MARCH

Mammal: March 16 – 20 (Weekdays) $1,700


$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount a life-size fox, one of the hardest mammals to mount: skin, flesh, shave, measure, order forms and supplies, tan, set eyes, mount, finish, and paint. Some steps will be pre-pared, but students will learn the full hands-on process.

APRIL

Turkey: April 6 – 10 (Weekdays) $1,700

$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount a full-size wild turkey: skin, flesh, wash and degrease, size the body, wire legs and wings, set eyes, mount, finish, and paint.

Bird: April 11,12, & 18 (Weekends) $800


$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount a pheasant: skin, flesh, wash and degrease, size the body, wire the legs and wings, set eyes, mount, finish, and paint. Notify us in advance if you wish to mount a bird of your own and we will furnish the body and eyes.


MAY

Deer: May 4 – 8 (Weekdays) $1,600

$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount a

Deerhead/gamehead: skin; measure; order forms and supplies; scrape; turn ears, eyes and lips; salt; re-hydrate; pickle; tan; shave the cape; drum and prep the cape for mounting; prepare the form; mount; finish; and paint. Some steps will be pre-prepared, but students will learn the full hands-on process., including antler repair.

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER


Fish: August 1, 2, 8 & 9 (Weekends) $1,000


$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount three (3) fish: skin, flesh, pattern and carve a body, mount, set eyes, fill shrinkage, prepare fins, prep for painting, practice with airbrush, finish, and paint.

Deer: August 15, 22, 23, 29, 30 & September 5 (Weekends) $1,600

$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes begin at 9 AM. Mount a

OCTOBER


Tanning: October 5 - 9
(Weekdays) $1,000

$100 enrollment deposit required. Classes being at 9 AM. Maximum 7 students accepted (for tanning classes only). Prepare skins for tanning, including hair-on soft tanning for deer caps; degreasing, re-hydrating dried skins, pickling – the entire process. Learn the proper equipment and chemicals for several methods of tanning. Tanned skins are the students’ to take home.

Contact the School if interested in any other mini-class and a convenient date can be arranged.

 


 

Class Size

 

Class sizes vary.  One-on-one personal instructor ensures that every student learns to their full potential.  Students will be able to produce quality commercial taxidermy art for fun and profit.

 

 

Tuition

 

Tuition includes everything needed to complete mounts.  Let us know in advance if you'd prefer to mount your own trophy and I'll furnish everything else necessary for the mount.  All finished mounts are the student's to keep and display in their own studio.

 

 

Lodging

 

Students are responsible for their own travel, lodging, food, and other personal expenses.

    Lodging is available on the premises for a minimal charge to cover our utility expenses.  Everything is furnished in a 4-bedroom attached apartment except the student's food and personal items.
